Accessory Dwelling Unit in East Greenville, SC

With housing prices on the rise, and increasingly flexible work schedules becoming the norm, accessory dwelling units (ADU) are becoming a trend across the nation. According to the National Association of Home Builders, southern and western states have seen the largest uptick in ADUs as they are high growth areas with subsequently increasing housing costs.

While ADUs are a great option to expand you property’s living space, or bring in passive income, it is worth noting that many HOAs and county ordinances do not allow, or have strict regulations against, building additional living spaces. We encourage homeowners to research their neighborhood and city’s rules before starting any home improvement, renovation, or addition as they can vary greatly from zip code to zip code.

This detached garage addition provides our clients with ample space downstairs for two cars, a home gym, and plenty of storage. The finished apartment upstairs is large enough for a stack washer and dryer unit, kitchenette, full bathroom, eating area, king bed, and additional seating. Our clients choose to rent the finished apartment as a passive income stream, but it could double as a guest room, studio, or office space.
