2024 Bathroom Trends

Bathroom design is ever-evolving, and while high-quality surfaces, cabinetry, and finishes will last the test of time, there are a few remodeling trends that we have noticed our clients being particularly drawn to for their practicality and visual appeal. This post highlights freestanding tubs, separate “his and hers” vanities, and mixing tile patterns as three bathroom remodeling trends that will carry through 2024 and beyond. While none of these are particularly new trends, we believe that they are easy to replicate with various colors, surfaces and textures to suit your style. We are seeing more options and product availability for bathroom selections– allowing for more room for creativity and personalization. We’ll cover each trend in more detail, and show you how our clients implemented each one in their stunning, spa-like, primary bathroom remodel.

Embrace Elegance: Free-Standing Tubs

Free-standing tubs have caught on in a big way over the past few years to become a focal point in modern bathroom design. These standalone fixtures instantly elevate the aesthetic appeal of any bathroom.

Beyond their luxurious appearance, free-standing tubs come in various shapes, materials, and styles, allowing homeowners to select one that aligns with their design preferences and budget. From sleek modern designs to classic clawfoot tubs, the options are nearly endless.

When integrating a free-standing tub into a bathroom remodel, it's crucial to consider the available space and layout. Placement near windows for natural light or as a centerpiece in larger bathrooms can enhance their visual impact. Coordinating fixtures and complementary elements, such as floor-mounted faucets or decorative lighting, can further accentuate the tub's elegance.

Our clients are loving their freestanding tubs, and with good reason! Freestanding tubs mean less grout to scrub, and getting around them with a mop is a breeze! Their practicality, mixed with their eye-catching design, and endless options; makes us believe this is one trend that isn’t going anywhere any time soon!

Luxurious Convenience: Separate Vanities

The concept of separate “his and hers” vanities might seem like a luxury, but it reflects the need for personal space and organization in shared bathrooms. Dual vanities ensure that each partner has their own space to be as tidy or as disorganized as they’d like.

Separate vanities allow for storage customization to suit each person’s individual preferences. Tailoring each vanity with different storage options is a great way to add personalization, while maintaining a cohesive design.

Successfully incorporating separate vanities within the same bathroom requires careful consideration of space allocation and layout so that it doesn’t appear disjointed. Optimal positioning, adequate storage, and harmonizing design elements help create a unified yet personalized space for each user.

Double vanities aren’t anything new, but we are seeing more bathrooms whose layout incorporate separate vanities like this Simpsonville, SC Bathroom Remodel or our clients’ Neutral and Natural Primary that features two oak vanities.

Artful Sophistication: Mixing Tile Patterns

Mixing tile patterns has gained popularity as a way to add visual interest and depth to bathroom designs. It involves combining various tile shapes, colors, and textures to create unique and eye-catching surfaces. From classic subway tiles to intricate mosaics, there are endless possibilities for tile combinations. Bold patterns can be balanced with more subtle ones to create focal points or accent walls within the bathroom. When integrating mixed tile patterns, it's essential to choose designs that complement each other while considering the overall theme of the bathroom. Creating visual transitions between different areas, like shower spaces and vanity backsplashes, can unify the design while adding artistic flair.

Our Clients' Bathroom Remodel

Our clients’ bathroom remodel combines quality fixtures, accessories, and materials with timeless, neutral, tones for a timeless, yet updated look. This bathroom is proof that on trend doesn’t have to mean trendy!

Freestanding Focal Point

Our clients chose to center their tub underneath the bathroom’s window to create an even more dramatic focal point. The rectangular tub may have a minimalist shape, but its 67” length commands the attention of the room.

Our Clients’ Dual Vanities

Separate vanities arranged in a L-shape provide our clients with enough room to get ready, without bumping into each other. The custom vanities with polished nickel accessories and quartz countertops provide a neutral, yet resistant surface for daily use.

Pattern Play in Our Clients’ Shower

Our client’s shower mixes patterns without overwhelming the small space. The solid white, 3x12 wall tiles are laid horizontally on two sides, as well as a herringbone pattern on the shower’s back wall. Using the same tile in a different layout is a great way to add personality and dimension without making extra selections. Likewise, using the same 2” gray and white hexagonal mosaic tile for the shower’s floor and wall niche ties together the small space.
